27

Today I turned 27. It's so unbelievably crazy how fast time flies by, it seems like each year goes by faster than the one before.
Last night, 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' took me to one of our favorite resturants 'House of Tricks' for dinner. It was amazing and SO delicious!!
Today we slept in and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' made the BEST breakfast EVER!! It was seriously so good- I wish I could have this everyday! haha! ;)
He gave me another homemade card (I absolutely LOVE his cards and look forward to them SO much!) and inside was a photo of my gift.
<<TRI KIT PHOTO>>
He photo shopped the TriPlex tri-kit onto my body to show me he bought me the kit. HAHA! So freaking cute!!

Then we headed to the movies with my mom to see Pitch Perfect 2. (Side note: I typically never drag 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' to these kinds of movies, but this was totally his idea and he offered to go. :)) I liked it, I don't think it was as good as the first but still hilarious.
After the movies, my mom and I met up with my sister and niece and got pedicures. Then everyone met us for dinner at Cornish Pasty Co. SO delicious! We used to live right by Cornish and would go there all the time and we haven't been there in forever.
While we were waiting for our food, my niece decided to become my stylist and gave me her necklace, an Elsa braid, and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter's' hat-- that had to be worn sideways! She is definitely adorable and has GREAT fashion taste!
Then I tried to take a pictures with 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' and we had a photobomber....
So.... we tried to get him to take a picture with us- and this was the best we could get....

Definitely had a GREAT birthday! and looking forward to a great year!!

Fro Yo 5K fun!!

Not too much has been happening lately since my Ice Cream Run. I did change up my hair and go back to my natural color of dark brown.
From my instagram
Today I did the Fro Yo 5K and it was a BLAST! I got there early and waited in line to register/ packet pick up for what seemed like forever- only to be told I was in the wrong line. I finally found the correct line and got registered. I also switched to the 10K which didn't help with the confusion.
They gave out awesome bags with sunglasses and visors inside. Seriously, some of these races are really stepping up their game in the 'swag' department and it's awesome!!
Not my fro-yo- but look at all the cool swag!! (Goodie bag picture found here. )
I took my bag and dropped it off in their bag-drop area and made my way to the start. It was already pretty hot out and then we had to wait about 15 minutes to start because of parked car near the finish blocking the road, which only meant it got hotter.(We were waiting for the tow truck to get there.)

We finally got started and I really liked the course. We were never on the roads so we didn't have to worry about traffic and there were lots of volunteers directing us which way to go.
Since they had a 5K and a 10K option, the 10K course was just the same loop twice. I always hate running right by the finish line, knowing you're not done.

They had a "Fro Zone" which was a huge, long blow up arch that had misters- but when I ran through it both times I never could feel like mist and it smelled like gas from the motor really bad. Awesome idea- but it just didn't work out.
Picture from their website
After the second loop, I finally made my way to the finish line and after going through and getting my medal, it spit us out right to the lines for Fro Yo!

We got into line and was given a piece of paper to choose which type of Fro Yo you wanted and to select all the toppings you wanted- NO limit! Best part ever!! I picked the vanilla bean Fro Yo with oreos and gummy bears and they definitely hooked it up! It was SO cool!
I found some shade to cool off and eat my Fro Yo while I watched the Fro Yo eating contest- (totally should have entered!) and then grabbed my bag and made my way back to my car.

Next up on the agenda was a random act of kindness for my birthday (it's tomorrow). I wanted to pass out 27 sandwhiches to homeless people for my 27th birthday.
I had them all in a cooler and drove around downtown Phoenix handing them out. It was awesome, everyone was really appreciative. One thing I would have done differently, is bought a case a water and froze it to pass out the water bottles as well. Everyone was asking if I had any water, and it was already extremely hot (at 10am).

Some people asked why I was doing it and I told them it was my birthday and they wished me a happy birthday. Definitely made my day and truly made me grateful.

The Ice Cream Run!!

You guys!! My best friend Megan just moved back from Georgia after being gone 3 years and I could not be more happy!!! She's the type of person who can be gone for 3 years and she comes back and it's like we never skipped a beat, I love it!

She's the one who talked me into doing my first run, Pat's Run in 2009. I remember when we started training and running my first mile without stopping on a treadmill and thinking it was SUCH an accomplishment! Then wondering how the heck I was going to run 4.2 miles for the race! Haha!!

Since she moved back, we immediately got together for a run and started looking for a fun 5K to do together. I came across The Ice Cream Run and we were both immediately sold! Free ice cream after a run?! Who would say no?? ;)
For the past few days, it had been POURING rain- so I was a little worried how today would go with the 'Rain or Shine' policy posted on their Facebook page. But when I woke up AT 4:30AM it seemed to be dry- super cloudy with storm clouds rolling in- but dry. I drove to Megan's house in Phoenix (totally got lost on the way) and then she drove us to Glendale for the race. (I think I ended up driving almost 3 hours all together for this 5K that took us 30 minutes... haha!!)

We got there and picked up our packets and the sun was shining! We waited in the car since it was still a little chilly outside.
They had a super cute kids run right before we started and all the kids were adorable and SO happy to get their medals!
Once we started, our goal was just to run the entire thing (Megan is literally a beast and went from ZERO running to a 5K in about 2.5 weeks!) I totally forgot how fun it was to run/race with her. We talked the whole time and I laughed my butt off!

They had a couple water aid stations and the volunteers were really nice. The course was was an out and back and was marked really well with lots of ice cream cone chalk drawings! We followed the Ice cream cones to the end and Megan insisted we were NOT sprinting to the finish when we turned the corner, yet she quickly picked up the pace and next thing I know we were definitely sprinting to the finishing line!
We finished in 30 minutes and got the CUTEST medals ever that had the running ice cream cone on it. (Which I think is the cutest logo ever!!) Then we quickly began the search for the ice cream! (Keep in mind it was only 7:30AM!!) I had been talking about what kind of ice cream cone it would be and if there would be a choice in flavor or any toppings for about 2.9 miles of the 5K.
We found everyone waiting in line and immediately assumed we were in the right spot. My anticipation grew as we inched closed to the front of the line- so you can imagine my disappointment when we got there and they handed us a teeny, tiny ice cream cup. You know the kind you used to get at school with the wooden spoon on top? yeah, those were the ones. Megan didn't even bother to get one- I got one just for principal.
It was SUCH an awesome fun, run and organized VERY well, the only compliant would be the lame icecream (that wasn't even in a cone! Their logo is a running ice cream CONE! they should of at least done a drumstick or something.) But I would definitely do this run again.

Adventurous eating!

Today was one of 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter's' best friends 40th Birthday!! Happy Birthday Jeremy!!

His wife Patti, started planning for this back in Decemeber at their works' Christmas party! She gave him the option to have a party or to go to a super nice, fancy dinner. He chose the fancy dinner (good choice!) and we got to tag along as a surprise!

He had no idea we were coming and we were supposed to be at the restaurant, Nobu, at 5:45 to beat them getting there at 6. Patti texted and said they left a little bit earlier and traffic was not cooperating!
We got there at about 5:40 and as we were rushing through the parking garage, 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' thought he saw their car. So we immediately jump behind the nearest car to hide! (yeah.... totally wasn't them....)
We quickly ran to the restaurant a few blocks away- seriously so hard in high heels! and were so happy to have beaten them! We got seated just minutes before they got there and he was totally surprised! It was awesome!

Since the guys wanted to try everything on the menu, we decided we would order a ton of stuff and just share everything. Which ended up working out perfectly because all the dishes came out with 4 pieces/bites of everything.

((If you know me, you know that I am an EXTREMELY picky eater and hardly ever try new things. I was pretty nervous going into this dinner, and even more nervous when I realized all but 2 of the dishes we ordered were seafood/sushi type dishes- which I typically don't like.))

The first plate came out and they offered me a spoon, I couldn't exactly turn it down.... we were in a SUPER fancy restaurant and it was his birthday! 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' was shocked-- I was too when I realized I just ate octupus! haha! (I think 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' was hoping I wouldn't want to eat a lot of the stuff so he could have 2 of everything! ;))

I am proud to say I tried everything that we ordered! Octupus, raw fish, OYSTERS!!! I freaking tried an oyster!! I've never eaten anything like this stuff before and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' was super proud! :)
From my Instagram.

We finished the night with some chocolate mouse that was sooo good!  It was such a fun night!

Happy Birthday Jeremy! I'm so glad we got to celebrate with you! I hope this year is the best year yet for you!!

Espirit de She Race Recap!!

One of the coolest races I've ever done was today, Espirit de She!! I've did this race last year and will continue to do it! It's an all girls triathlon and everything about it rocks!
I felt pretty good going into this race since I felt good at Marquee and my training had been going really well. My mom was in town so she got to come watch too!

The start was delayed while they waited for an ambulance and it felt like it took FOREVER! I found Maria to hang out with and I think we ended up starting 25 minutes late. Not fun, when you're already sweating in your wet suit!
We finally were able to get started, and the swim went okay, felt a little slow and felt like I had to stop or swim around people a lot.
Got out, made my way onto the bike and felt great. I averaged 17.25 miles per hour and felt good! The course was two loops that included Curry Hill... I really don't like Curry Hill and was reminded why today, twice! I always approach the hill the confident and determined and ready to tackle it, then about half way up the hill I'm gasping for air as my legs attempt to keep moving! It kicks my butt every single time!
When I made my way back into transition from the bike it was HOT! I felt good and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' told me to use the ice at every aid station to keep cool. I took off on the run ready to finish this race strong! But.... I was barely moving... I tried to pick up the pace and literally could not go any faster. I tried to convince myself to spring to the next cone (about 10 feet in front of me) and couldn't. I'm not sure what happened but I could not run.
I tried getting Gatorade, water, and ice at the aid station- desperate for some help but nothing worked. It was 2 loops on the run and second was even worse than the first. I was so upset and disappointed with myself I just wanted to be done. It was so hot and I could feel myself getting a sunburn on the final stretch.
I finally made my way down the finisher shoot and across the finish line. I immediately grabbed 2 bottles of water and looked for the nearest shade. I found my mom and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' and waited for Maria to finish.
She wasn't too far behind me and once we crossed, we made out way to VIP area. But I was already so hot and ready leave.
We packed up our stuff and 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' and I headed to lunch with my mom at Cafe Boa.
I finished in 3:18, not even close to the 3 hour finish I was going for but I know what I need to work on. More bricks and tempo runs will be in my near future! ;)

#DeniseWedsBrady!

Yesterday was a crazy-long, fun, awesome, amazing day!! Our good friends Brady and Denise got married!!!

I started the day with a TriPlex workout at 5:00am. I'm still shocked at how I'm able to wake up that early to workout twice a week! :) After that I headed to work and left work at 1:00. (Yay for early releases!! ;))
I rushed home, and quickly got ready with 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' and headed back to TriPlex to caravan to Tucson with some friends for Brady and Denise's wedding!!

We got there early and it was SO pretty! The venue, the setup, the view- everything was gorgeous! We hung out with some friends and then it was time for the wedding to start! It was outside and so perfect!
Their wedding was super sweet! They both looked amazing!!
After the ceremony, they had a happy hour with a freaking Mariachi band!! I LOVE Mariachi bands!! It was so cool! We hung out outside  and after we were ushered inside for the reception.
Look how perfect!! (I stole this from Denise's Facebook!! )SO gorgeous!!
All of their table numbers were race that they had done today with pictures of them at the race- it was super cute! The wedding parties entrance was AMAZING! Each pair came out to a different song and danced their way to the head table, they all did really good!
I asked 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' to take a picture of my new shoes and this is what I got- I obviously did not think he would be getting my face..... Beggars cant be choosers!! haha!!
After dinner we hit up the photo booth and then attempted to dance (I suck at dancing!)! ;)
We planned on leaving somewhat early, since we both had to work the next day, but we didn't end up leaving until almost 11pm! 'Mr. Sprinkles and Glitter' did a shot with the whole wedding party and all our friends from TriPlex! haha!

Which, after the 2 hour drive- got us home about 1pm. It was a long day- but totally worth it!
